Parker Welck | In The Bag 2023
Parker Welck joined the Prodigy Disc Team mid-season in 2022 and hit the road on the Disc Golf Pro Tour full-time in 2023.
He earned his second career USDGC invite with a podium finish at The Challenge @ Goat Hill Park A-tier in Oceanside, California in February, but many fans first came to know Parker when he burst onto the scene with a victory at June's DGPT Elite event Dynamic Discs Open in Emporia, Kansas. Parker won his first Elite series event before his first professional A-tier win, which would come in September at the Hollow Falls Classic in Connecticut.
“I generally only throw pretty overstable discs, just because I like to throw flex lines,” explains Parker. “That's kind of my natural line; that's what I grew up throwing. I will throw some hyzer-flips in there, so you'll see some understable discs, but most of the time they will be beefy.”
He now calls California home, but Parker is a native Hawaiian, the only pro player from Hawaii on tour. Unfortunately, tragedy struck Parker's hometown of Lahaina on the Hawaiian island of Maui as wildfires destroyed the homes and livelihoods of thousands of residents this summer. To support our Team player, who still has many relatives and friends on the island, we released a special edition fundraiser disc with proceeds going directly to the Hawai’i Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund.
